While the controversy surrounding the Adani Group continues to obstruct Parliament’s work during this budget session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge made news in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday for very unrelated reasons.
Kharge’s pricey Louis Vuitton scarf drew the eye of the house, while PM Modi was seen sporting a half-sleeve light blue “sadri” jacket made of recycled plastic bottles. PM Modi received the jack from Indian Oil Corporation on February 6 in Bengaluru during India Energy Week.
Hardeep Singh Puri, the union minister for housing and urban affairs, praised PM Modi’s effort on Twitter. My sincere appreciation to Modi Ji for donning the jacket made of PET bottle recycling cloth! “Truly exemplifies his leadership for the #LiFE Movement, an India-led global mass movement to encourage individual and societal action to safeguard the environment,” tweeted Puri.
Shehzad Poonwalla, the BJP’s national spokesperson, criticized Kharge for referring to himself as “Bhoomi Putra” during his address in the Upper House by writing on Twitter, “Taste apna, Sandesh Apna Apna.PM @narendramodi is seen wearing a blue jacket made from recycled bottles to promote environmental awareness and the battle against climate change. Kharge Ji complains about poverty while sporting a pricey LV scarf! Burberry-LV experts on poverty!
